I have written several short stories that I feel are of interest, primarily to the late teen young adult reader. Why? To me it is important for a writer to think about who they are writing too. It helps the writer to focus. It is a concept that is not from my own thinking. I learned it-posthumously- from Carlos Fuentes. When I was a young reader I was influenced by John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, Jack London, and also by historical non-fiction. In my later years those past influences stayed with me as abase and I extended my reading to other classics in literary fiction. If my goals are pure, it is simply to say their have been many that have gone before you, you and you alone will decide your life, so I never preach in my stories. But I have seen many pitfalls, that trap youth and expel the energy and vigor - from youth-into the garbage of fatal statistics and ruined lives.
